Engine Room Simulator

The ARI Full Mission Engine Room Simulator (FMERS) is a cutting edge, turnkey solution suitable for training Marine Engineers at Watch keeping, Operational and Management levels.

It enables a realistic and accurate simulation of the Engine Room, comprising a Main Engine Control Room, Main Switch Board, and simulated machinery space including a mimic pipeline panel, and local operating stations.

The ARI FMERS simulates the MAN B& W 6S60MC 6 cylinder, 2 stroke, reversible, slow speed marine diesel main engine of firing order 1,5,3,4,2,6 which is directly coupled to a fixed pitch propeller and all the auxiliary systems that accompany such an installation in main engine room of a tanker.

Customized Solutions

Simulators are widely recognized as immersive, cost effective, and efficient training tools. In the past, simulators in general, and computing equipment, specifically, were expensive leading to general purpose simulator development. The modern, emerging trend is to use customized simulators to achieve specific training objectives, which is possible today at a reasonable cost and in short periods of time.

More than any other manufacturer, ARI possesses the ability to customize simulation solutions for specific client needs. This is ARI’s key competitive advantage and we have invested significantly in developing expertise to ensure that client needs are met in the most specific way possible. All our simulators are extremely modular making it possible to tailor make a solution for today’s needs while retaining the flexibility to grow or modify the system for future needs. All our simulators are expandable making it possible to start off with a small system to begin with and grow it in stages into a full mission simulator.

Navigation Bridge Simulator

A complete marine simulation navigation training solution encompassing all the individual units on which navigation related training needs to be performed. Training is done in an immersive atmosphere with full visual, instrument and aural clues available to the trainees. The full mission simulator incorporates all software, hardware and accessories required to simulate an accurate and realistic bridge environment and is available in a large number of configurations including 180, 240, 270 and 360 degrees fields of view.

Components
The Integrated Bridge Environment consists of all standard equipment designed realistically and arranged ergonomically to provide an actual bridge environment.
  • Radar/ARPA
  • ECDIS
  • Conning and steering station
  • Display of navigation, weather, propulsion data etc
  • Engine, Rudder and Bow thruster controls
  • Sound signal controls
  • Navigation Aids : GPS, Echo Sounder (with recorder), Doppler Log, AIS, Course Recorder etc.
  • Mooring panel with capability to pay out, heave and make fast mooring ropes
  • Anchoring panel with facility to walk back, drop and heave up port or starboard anchors
  • Tug control panel with facility to deploy tugs in push or pull modes around the vessel
  • Alarms panel
  • Visual system with ability to pan and view 360 degree around the vessel and select any location for close up view in binocular mode.
  • Instructor station enabling complete monitoring and control on exercise environment
Features
  • Near “real” visualization of marine environment
  • Own ship and target vessel exhibit movement in 6 degrees-of-freedom
  • All navigation equipment designed and equipped in accordance with performance standards for navigational equipment.
  • Vast range of navigational scenarios including coastal navigation, high traffic density areas, arrival and departure ports, berthing and unberthing, anchoring and others.
  • Varying conditions of visibility, time, wind, current, tides, weather can be simulated.
  • The ship behaviour is rigorously modeled to correctly exhibit ‘6 degrees-of-freedom’ under combined effect of internal, external and interactive forces
  • Used to improve navigational and maneuvering skills of navigating officers at all levels.
  • Software is entirely modular, scalable and customisable.
  • All hardware used including computers, monitors, projectors are ‘off-the-shelf’ and obviate any dependency on specific make or model.
  • Exercises are conducted under the direct control of a qualified and experienced instructor.
  • Trainee knowledge and expertise can be evaluated and improved by deliberate introduction of errors by the instructor during the course of an exercise
Training Applications
  • Mandatory Ship Maneuvering Training according to STCW’95 standards for Navigating Officers at management and operational levels
  • Mandatory Training on ‘Blind’ Navigation Systems.
  • Mandatory Training on Radar/ARPA systems
  • Bridge Team Management training
  • Crisis Management Training
  • Rule of the Road and Collision Avoidance Training
  • Ship Maneuvering and Tactical Training for Naval Officers
  • ECDIS Training

Drilling Simulator

The ARI Drilling Simulator has successfully simulated a variety of tools available on the actual drilling rig on land/offshore such as:

  • Top Drive
  • Draw Works
  • Mud System
  • Hydra Tong
  • Bridge Racker
  • HPU (Hydraulic Power Unit)

The Drilling Simulator is a modular solution suitable for operational level training in all essential aspects of drilling rig operations.  ARI can customize and bundle the simulation software to actual hardware componenets used in drilling operations.

The ARI Drilling Simulator is back-boned by a central physics processing unit emulating all the compoenents of the rig in their prospective positions and allowing their inter-operations using the highly advanced phsics engine.  The system therefore incorporates all world effects olike gravity, friction, actual kinematics, collision detection and handling etc. on the simulated objects in the real physics world thus providing unparelled realism.

Crane Simulator

ARI offers a broad range of crane simulators for operational training in all essential aspects of container and bulk handling operations across various crane types including: QC (Quay Cranes), RTG (Rubber Tire Gantry), RMG (Rail Mounted Gantry), SG(Ship Gantry), PC(Pedestal Cranes), SC(Straddle Carriers), mobile telescopic boom cranes, tower type construction cranes, floating barge cranes, offshore cranes etc and other client specific cranes and equipment types.

ARI has crane simulation solutions to suit all requirements and budgets, from low cost desktop installations through to kit based portable multipurpose trainers and up to multiple PC, instructor controlled, full mission solutions.

ARI crane simulators provide a realistic reproduction of the visual, behavioral and operational characteristics while making the operation of the simulator extremely simple and intuitive for trainees and instructors.

The simulator provides a virtual non-destructive training environment for accelerated, hands on training to both novice and experienced operators.

Trainees can repetitively practice routine and specific tasks to imbibe safe and efficient work practices.

ARI simulators – with their enhanced visual, motion and sound systems – represent the state of the art in crane simulation for operations training for enhanced safety and improved productivity.

A typical crane simulator includes: a replica operator cabin; seat; swappable plug & play control consoles; high fidelity visual system; sound system; option of motion platforms; an instructor station with CCTV, stealth view & debriefing sections in a classroom or container configuration.

Offshore Simulator

ARI has developed a multipurpose simulator solution for the offshore industry that can simulate operations of the different type of vessels in an oil field environment, such as:

* Supply Vessel
* Multi Role Vessel
* Tug Handling Simulator
* Platform Supply Vessel
* Fire fighting Supply vessel

The simulator is a modular solution wherein the simulator can be developed from ship handling and operation level to an integrated solution with rig/platform based crane operations.
