MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF JOB
As the Sales Executive, Waste Systems, you will work closely with Ship and Platform owners/operators, Building and Repair Yards to gain the market knowledge, customer awareness and product awareness to develop, maintain and profitably grow sales into this market sector.
Skills
The ability to make presentations and negotiate with customers using sound commercial awareness is essential. Good communications with respect to report writing and planning will be required.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• The region of responsibility is defined as [TBA], however there is a roving commission to ensure that colleagues, within the Water Systems Sales team, are fully supported and prompted to drive sales in this sector.
• The responsibility is primarily developing Waste Treatment system sales, however the role would be expected to be developed in line with the Company strategy of selling across as broad a range of products as possible.
• Respond to enquiries with 5 working days of receipt.
• Ensure a full working knowledge of the documentation requirements are understood, ahead of any bid, and help develop bid and contract documentation packages that are fully aligned to contractual requirements
• In understanding the documentation requirements of any bid, it is essential that the cost of such document preparation and production is fully accounted for with the bid proposals.
• Review and develop a strategy to grow market (end user) awareness of the Company name, brand and product offering.
• Profitably grow sales into the Retrofit and New Building sectors.
• Ensure contact is maintained, as a minimum on a bi-monthly basis, with each target ship & platform owner/operator and building yard, to ascertain future sales opportunities and market developments.
• Submit, monthly, a report, to the standard format, to meet with the HWS reporting diary.
• Assist in developing pricing structures for each project, working towards a standard pricing and discount structure with your colleagues in the Sales team.
• Make recommendations for the improvement and/or maintenance of our market position, in each region.
• Champion Waste Treatment within the Company Water Systems group network, ensuring all personal are adequately informed and trained on the products, their potential markets and pricing structures.
• Visit key accounts annually, as a minimum, and other travel, as required, to fully support Agents and to develop the market position.
• Ensure this strategy is encompassed within the Strategic Marketing Plan and assists in meeting the objectives within the department.
• Understand and report on competitive activity in key markets, including products, pricing and other information.
• Feedback, to the Marketing Manager, activity that could be included in PR releases.
• Attend seminars and professional working group meetings, to represent Company on professional bodies.
• Work closely with and assist other members of the Sales and Marketing teams, particularly with the Overseas Sales teams of the Company as required.
• To have a good understanding of the Company product line, the markets and competitive products.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Company are looking for candidates with strong international marine and/or offshore sales experience who have an understanding of ship and platform systems, commercial or military and how the various on board systems interface with each other. Candidates who have sea going experience would be desired (a former Engineer or Deck Officer) but this is not essential.
Candidates must have a minimum of three years of proven sales experience within the commercial marine and/or offshore sector. This will be easily demonstrated through their track record with reference to leading ship/platform owners and yards. An understanding of the offshore market with reference to documentation and through life support would be desirable.
Good all round presentation and communication skills coupled with self motivation/enthusiasm will be key when working in this team environment. Proven negotiation and commercial awareness skills will also be requisites.
Regular international travel will be required and applicants must be based within commuting distance of Dorset. A current passport and valid driving licence will be required.
