Photo Competition Rules for Entry

Rules for Entry

1) The competition is free to enter and open to competitors aged 16 and over. Entries must be received before closing date/time 2359hrs UTC 30th April 2011. All eligible entries received by this closing date will be considered by our panel of judges. Entries received after the closing date/time will not be eligible for the competition.

2) Up to 5 photos may be entered per category with a maximum of 20 photos per competitor.

3) Please send each entry separately by completing the entry form on the Joining Shackle website each time.

4) Entries should be submitted in jpg format up to a maximum of 2MB.

5) Entrants must not be professional photographers and, for the purpose of this competition, a professional photographer will be considered to be someone who makes more than half their annual income from the sale of their photographs.

6) The organisers accept no responsibility for entries lost, damaged or delayed.

7) We reserve the right to crop images as we see fit.

8) The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

9) The overall winner will receive a prize consisting of a Canon Digital Camera. The four winners of each category will receive a Joining Shackle trophy and each of the four runners-up will receive certificates. There is no cash alternative and prizes cannot be sold or transferred.

10) All works must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured. Entrants must not have breached any laws when taking their photographs.

11) Prior to submission entrants must not have offered any of their entries for sale, been paid for any publication of any of their entries or won or been a runner up in any other photographic competition with any of their entries.

12) Entrants will retain copyright of the images that they submit to the competition. However all entrants grant Joining Shackle Ltd a non-exclusive, perpetual, sub-licensable, worldwide licence to copy, adapt, perform, communicate and make publicly available their electronic images utilising any medium, format, method or means, for promoting the competition; for competition winners, as in clause 10, the licence is extended for any purpose. No fees will be payable by Joining Shackle Ltd for any of the above uses. While we will make every effort to credit photographers, including in printed reproductions of their work, we cannot guarantee that every use of the photographs will include photographers’ names.

13) By submitting images to the competition entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules and Joining Shackle Ltd reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and in its absolute discretion if Joining Shackle Ltd has reason to believe that an entrant has breached these rules.

14) Joining Shackle Ltd reserves the right, at its discretion, to cancel this competition or amend the dates on which Finalists and Winners will be announced.

15) These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The competition is administered by Joining Shackle Ltd.
